Getting a Drupal Site


 

4 Ways to Build a Drupal Site:

  1. Hosted Option
    We do the installation; take care of all software upgrades; and setup common configuration options. You build the Drupal Website.  No cost.
     
  2. Do It Yourself
    You install, maintain and build your own Drupal Website. We can supply the web server account at no cost.
     
  3. Do It Yourself Quickstart Option
    You maintain and build your own Drupal Website but we help you get started by installing and setting common configuration options. No cost.
     
  4. Let Us Build it for You
    We take care of everything... installing, building, maintaining.  Call for quote.
     
     

'Hosted' Option:
With our assistance you can setup, run and host your own Drupal Content Management System, no technical knowledge needed to edit or maintain your new website! 'Hosted' means that we will do the installation, maintenance and install modules and themes.  You get a Drupal site that is up and running with many of the common configurations and functionally already set for you.

Do It Yourself:
This option gives you more control.  You can add your own modules & themes to your site but requires you to setup and maintain your own Drupal site. You wil install, upgrade, patch and be responsible for the setup and maintenance of your Drupal website.   Don't Install Unless You Upgrade!!  An unupdated version of Drupal can cause security problems.

Web.arizona.edu Server:
University Information Technology Services provides no cost web server accounts to UA Departments & Organizations. The Web.arizona.edu web server has everything needed to run Drupal.  Of requested, we will pre-install Drupal for you.

Install Drupal Yourself on your Own Web Server:
You can install Drupal on a webserver that provides a minimum of:

  • An Apache or IIS web server
  • A MySql 5+ or PostgreSQL database
  • PHP Version 4.3.3+

Drupal can not be run on the U-System server.
 

 

Do It Yourself Quickstart Option:
Available only on the Web.arizona.edu server.    We will:

  • Create a Web.arizona.edu account and configure it to run Drupal
  • Install Drupal for you
  • Install Common Contributed Modules
  • Setting file & subdirection permissions for better security
  • Set up common configuration settings to get your started:
    • Add a Site Admin and Content Editor role
    • Install & enable common modules and set permissions
    • Install & configure the FCKEditor
    • Set to auto create URL aliases
    • Set up defaults for the Page content type
    • Configure Date/time:  time zone set and changed to non-military time
    • Configure File uploads for 8MB for Site Admin & Content Editor role
    • Create a homepage to replace the default Welcome Message
    • CAS configured and Staff Login block displaying in footer; the default user
      login block is turned off
    • Configure User Settings to modifify messages to users
    • Administration Menu Added
    • Create Account Management menu
    • 'Get Help menu' added that only displays for Site Admin & Content Managers. Provides links to Drupal help information.
