Site Administration Workshops



 

Site Administrators manage a Drupal website.  They are responsible for adding users, configuring Drupal, building the site structure, adding functionally and more.

Access to the material for these workshops requires an account on this site.   Accounts & workshop registration require a UA NetID.

Which Workshop(s) Should I Take?

  • Content Manager
    This is the most basic drupal workshop. While it is not technically a "Site Administration" workshop, some Site Administrators who don't have HTML skills may want to take it. This workshop was created so that you can send your co-workers to learn how to add pages, create menu items, add images, create hyperlinks, and general information on how to use a Rich Text Editor.

Site Administrator Workshops:
Each level of workshop gets progressively more technical.

  • Site Admin 1: Getting Started
    This workshop is for you if you are responsible for setting up and configuring a very basic Drupal website.  Prerequisite: None.

  • Site Admin 2: Terminology & Setup
    This workshop is for you if you are responsible for adding basic functionally to a Drupal website. Understand the concepts and terms used in Drupal and learn how regions, blocks, nodes and modules work together. Start building your new Drupal website by adding and configuring menus and blocks. Setup an RSS Feed.  Create a Survey or fill-in form.  Prerequisite: Site Admin 1.

  • Site Admin 3: Adding Functionality
    This workshop is for you if you need to add more advanced functionally to a Drupal website.  Start adding functionality to your Drupal site including custom content types, user profiles and a calendar. Begin working with Views. Prerequisite: Site Admin 1& 2.

  • Site Admin 4: CCK & Views
    This workshop is for you if you need to add advanced functionally to a Drupal website. Learn  Drupal functionality that integrates of concepts learned in Site Admin 1-3. Prerequisite: Site Admin 1, 2 & 3.

  • Site Admin 5: Putting it All Together
    This advanced workshop is for you if you need to build advanced functionally. Prerequisite: Site Admin 1,  2, 3, 4.

  • Themeing
    This is an advanced Drupal workshop. A Drupal theme controls the look and feel of a Drupal website similar to templates in Dreamweaver. This workshop provides hands-on experience in how to modify an existing Drupal theme and how to create a custom theme from scratch.  It is helpful to have experience in HTML, CSS and PHP but it is not required.  Prerequisite: Site Admin 1& 2.
     
  • Application Administration
    This is an advanced Drupal workshop. In this workshop you will learn how to install the Drupal software on an Apache server, download and enable modules, set up Cron, set up UA WebAuth and learn how to secure a Drupal site.   This workshop is NOT needed if your drupal site is "Hosted". Prerequisite: Site Admin 1& 2.
